Don’t get benzoin on you or you’ll stick to yourself. Because it is so stiff and difficult to work with, it is normally sold as a tincture in about the same amount of alcohol.

Benzoin is sweet and balsamic and an utter delight to smell on its own, but it’s rarely exhibited as the starring element in a perfume.

It does, however, have a valuable function; it fixes perfumes, which is to say it makes them last longer because it, itself, never really evaporates.
