During my work as a novice perfumer, I’ve assembled a fairly comprehensive collection of perfume books, some rare and hard to find. Included are many of the great classics, books I’ve spotted here and there and quickly bought up. There’s a 1926 second edition of Poucher’s Perfumes, Cosmetics & Soaps, recommended to me by Mandy Aftel, that contains far more interesting information than later editions. A numbered edition of Félix Cola’s magnificent volume, Le Livre du Parfumeur, is useful even to those who don’t speak French as the names for many perfume ingredients are similar. Another rarity, Scent and Chemistry, by Ohloff, Pickenhagen and Philip Kraft, adds to the collection. Below is a complete list of my perfume books.
