People have all sorts of weird conceptions about musk. Natural musk, which isn’t (or shouldn’t be) used anymore, has been replaced with artificial musks, some of which have no resemblance to natural musk at all. I wanted natural musk’s pheromonic side in the musk for Brooklyn Perfume Company. So, in addition to a complicated mixture of artificial musks, I added phenyl acetates which have a distinct bit of funk to give the musk base pheromonic pull. Men and women (including my 98-year old mother-in-law) both wear it.
